  2. Camping and Caravaning Information:

    Site Web Link:
    http://woldfarmcampsite.tk/

    Directions

From Bempton- as you are entering Flamborough there is a sharp bend to the right, turn left off this bend and follow the dead end road up the hill for 1 mile, as if you were heading towards the cliff. If you cant see the sea, you cant see us

Entering Flamborough from Bridlington- Go down the hill into Flamborough past the village pump on your right and take the first left (signposted Filey) after 3/4 mile at the end of the village there is a sharp bend to the left, leave the main road and turn right on the bend and follow the dead end road for 1 mile, as if you were heading towards the cliff ( not following the arrowed ”camping” sign ( different site).

Don’t mistake us for the more commercial campsite, without a sea view near the industrial units, at the start of the farm road.
Do not follow the arrowed ”camping” sign, drive past this and continue down the road for approx 3/4 mile and you will find us and the views at the end.

For those of you bringing a caravan its a little bumpy on the axle towards the end of the track.

    Payment:

Payment is on the day. PRICE TO FOLLOW IN NEXT POST

I have reserved a plot right at the top of the site furthest away from the main part of the site.we can have one of the highest take offs in Flamborough and a snippet from the cliffs. Plenty of opportunities for walks or bird spotting as the Puffins nest here.

  6. Posted on behalf of John G4ATA
    Hi Robert

I don’t know if you’ve seen my recent posts on NOK’s FB page but I would like to join you all at Flamborough Head for the Lighthouses on the Air weekend. Being a past member of the club I have attended this event before. Unfortunately I moved QTH out of the area so it’s not very convenient to make it up to East Ardsley these days.

Anyway, I recently bought a small camper van and am keen to try out some /P action so I thought this would be the ideal opportunity, especially as you will be operating from the campsite this year rather than putting up and tearing down each day. My son is Martin, 2E1FVS, and he would also like to come along. Again he is an ex-member and used to be active from the club regularly working pileups of NA on a Thursday nightand putting the North Wakefield Radio Club on the map for many hams.

Can you tell me what information you need to reserve a pitch for Martin and myself, preferably with mains hookup? I have a 25m mains hookup lead.

If all is OK I will bring a Yaesu FT-450D, Martin will possibly bring his FT-920. Not sure what we will do for antennas at the moment as I have not planned anything but possibly a full sized vertical for 40m and a vertical dipole for 20m.

    Best regards

    John, G4ATA

  7. Hi John

It is no problem at all. Unfortunately I had not seen a post on the website but i work shifts so only check it from time to time.

There is no problem for pitch as one caravan plus 2 has cancelled

Mains hookup is available but not right at top where we are. If you setup a little lower down it us available

We selected right at top out of way to respect other site users

  8. I am having a few problems with organising this event for the following reasons:

The ILLS organisers are stipulating we can only operate from Flamborough Head but our NOV is for the campsite.

    I have two options here.

    1. Is that we apply for permission to operate from the head and those that wish to attend there can do so and I will change NOV location subject to approval from the council. They mumbled a £300 annual fee last year but i managed to have that waived.

Those that wished to remain on site and operate under club/p or own calls could do so but not be part of lighthouse event as such.

    2. Is that i write to the organisers and explain the predicament with land availability and consent and coastguard proximity and request dispensation. It is not a contest after all and the light is visual from where we are.

I have therefore done both in that I have written to the organisers and drafted an application for the council. I will seek authority from them and see the lay of the land. Last year they wanted electrical safety certificates for generator and the usual liability cover etc. I have at least two RF engineers on board so should be ok with that. We have insurance under RSGB of which I hold a copy.

As soon as I get an answer from the organisers I will advise as to what will occur.

Either way we are going to Flamborough , playing radio and having a great weekend.

Nice to see see quite a lot of support for the weekend. John (earlier post) speaks highly of the club and both he and his son Martin will make the trip from Grantham to be with us.

It proposes to be a great weekend.

    Keep checking for updates
